Preliminary countervailing duty results: Korean brass rod

On September 10, 2026, the US Department of Commerce published preliminary countervailing duty results for brass rod imports from South Korea covering 2023-2024. The review found certain subsidies were provided to Korean producers/exporters Booyoung Industry and Daechang Co. Ltd. Interested parties may comment on these findings.

What changed

The US Commerce Department preliminarily determined countervailable subsidies for Korean brass rod producers/exporters Booyoung Industry and Daechang Co. Ltd. for the period September 29, 2023 - December 31, 2024.

The notice lists separate preliminary subsidy rates by company and year: Booyoung Industry, 0.29% for 2023 (de minimis) and 0.52% for 2024; Daechang Co. Ltd., 0.47% for 2023 and 0.20% for 2024 (both de minimis). The 0.52% Booyoung 2024 result must not be applied to Daechang or to 2023.

Deadlines were extended due to a federal shutdown. Commerce says it will announce the case-brief schedule later; interested parties must file briefs electronically through ACCESS, and rebuttals are due five days after the case-brief deadline.

Final results, including cash deposit instructions and assessment rates, will follow publication of comments and briefs. The scope covers brass rod under an existing countervailing duty order.

Key Actions for Import Operations

  • Match the producer and entry period to the preliminary table: Booyoung 0.29% (2023) or 0.52% (2024); Daechang 0.47% (2023) or 0.20% (2024), noting the de minimis findings.
  • Watch Commerce ACCESS for the later case-brief timetable; this notice does not give a specific case-brief deadline.
  • Monitor final results publication to adjust cash deposit rates and compliance procedures accordingly.
