Mexico adds a provisional $68.60 duty per Chinese adult bicycle
Mexico imposed a provisional anti-dumping duty of US$68.60 per adult bicycle of Chinese origin, effective 13 October 2026 for six months. The 12 October preliminary decision applies to definitive and temporary imports, regardless of the country of dispatch.
What changed
The scope covers adult bicycles with wheel sizes over 20 inches; racing/road bicycles and electric bicycles are excluded. The cited tariff item is 8712.00.05, but the written product scope controls even if another item is used.
Payment is made in the peso equivalent; a permitted guarantee can secure the provisional duty. A preliminary decision here does impose a charge.
Three checks for import teams
- Match wheel size, bicycle type and Chinese origin with the written scope.
- Reconcile the US$68.60 unit duty and peso conversion with the entry or guarantee.
- Track the six-month provisional period and subsequent final investigation decision.
