Mexico extends Colombian textile origin waiver to September 2027

Mexico’s 15 October publication extends a limited textile-input origin waiver for goods made entirely in Colombia. Decision 129 covers 18 September 2026–17 September 2027, allowing listed non-regional materials within specified quantities while preserving qualifying preferential treatment.

What changed

The finished goods and inputs must match the decision’s table and remaining origin conditions. The origin certificate must identify Decision 129, the kilograms used and the material tariff classifications. Each certificate may cover only one six-digit product subheading. This extends an existing waiver; it does not make all Colombian garments duty-free.

Three checks for import teams

  • Match the finished good, listed input, specifications and available kilogram allocation.
  • Check the certificate’s Decision 129 declaration and quantities against production records.
  • Use a separate certificate per six-digit subheading and verify the stated validity period.

Preference still requires all applicable treaty conditions and verification. The waiver is limited to the table’s materials and quantities, not a general origin-rule relaxation.
